Our Projects

Children Care Centre

Currently our primary activity, this formal non-profit centre for vulnerable children is enrolling children on a monthly basis. Its purposes include:

  • Providing early education to pre-school children
  • Nursing and caring for children between 0-6 years while their parents are working
  • Teaching principles of good behavior and discipline to children
  • Feeding children with proper nutrition throughout the day
  • Decreasing incidences of delinquency through preventing children from being left

Together against Gender-Based Violence and for Women Rights(TACBVWR)

The project aims to raise awareness about women’s plight to aspire for, fight for and achieve gender equality, respectful of their rights and dignity.

Objectives of the Project
  • To promote women’s rights and their effective participation in the process to find solutions to their issues pertaining to their challenges.
  • To advocate for women empowerment and their effective integration to the social fabric, with respect of their dignity as equal partakers to the social fabric.
  • To promote the creation of a well- balanced and inclusive family environment in which men and women share the common goal of caring for and raising their children with the utmost care.
  • To promote the end of domestic violence which destroys the family while negatively impacting the development of the children.
  • To advocate for the creation of a harmonious environment in the family.
  • To contribute to the process of moral rehabilitation of the women within the family, the community and the society.
  • To contribute to making women self-reliant and self-sufficient.

Cultural Dance Groups

These two dance groups, Congolese and Rwandan, support two primary aims:

  1. a. Income Generation - Through paid performances at cultural events around KZN, refugee women are able to showcase traditional dances from their home countries, promoting appreciation for various African cultures
  2. b. Trauma Therapy – Engaging in traditional dances from their home countries, the women testify that the mental and emotional effects regarding stress from a traumatic past experience from their home countries is alleviated while involved in this activity.

Catering Group

For events and holidays such as Heritage Day, the Catering Group offers an opportunity for refugee women to provide meals from their home countries and to generate income for themselves.
